MY WHY:
”When I think of why I want to coach, the first thing that comes to my mind would be that I want to give back to young players chasing their dreams. I remember how I was growing up and the coaches that took a chance and spent their time to help me get to where I am today. I know that is a cliché and the reason that many people get into coaching, but I want to stay close to the game I have played all of my life. I want to specifically be a strength coach for baseball, I feel it mixes my passion for fitness and weight lifting with giving back to younger baseball players and helping them get to where they want to be. As a player I have absolutely loved and adored passionate and caring coaches, some of these people have had huge influences on my life and I want to give that back to aspiring athletes. Lately I have fallen in love with the sports science behind sports, specifically being at the forefront of getting athletes to their genetic potentials.
I believe in the genetic potential movement that is happening in baseball right now, I believe in analytics and I believe in getting athletes big and strong, throwing hard and hitting the ball far. I love that part of the game and I want to be able to pass that passion to my players. I trained at Driveline Baseball in Washington, the culture and the environment that was established I want to create and promote an environment focused on having the player get to the best of their abilities, the workouts, the throwing training and everything was to be completely honest with the athlete. This entire idea of being honest with oneself, finding out how good you are really are, this is why I want to be a coach; I want to create passion and help my athletes find and reach their potentials.”
PHILOSOPHY:
NO MAN HAS THE RIGHT TO BE AN AMATEUR IN THE MATTER OF PHYSICAL TRAINING, IT IS A SHAME FOR A MAN TO GROW OLD WITHOUT SEEING THE BEAUTY AND STRENGTH OF WHICH HIS BODY IS CAPABLE”- SOCRATES
I believe in absolute player development, starting with creating an athlete first rather than a player. Developing movement patterns that are going to allow my athletes to move athletically, putting them in the best possible positions to make athletic plays while on the field.
I believe in letting my players control their own careers, with adequate trust and communication knowing that we’ve done all we can to prepare them for the uncertainties of performance. Minimizing micromanaging and putting our players into positions where they can feel and adjust for what is going on with their technical skills.
I believe in using technologies involving biomechanical analysis and progressive stress overload, with adequate nutrition and rest to put our athletes in the best possible position to reach their genetic potentials. By the end of each of my athletes careers I want them to be able to answer the question: “How good was I really”.
I believe in creating a culture of civilized “savages”, we’re going to come in put our noses to the grindstone and use every day to get one step closer to where we want to be, developing a passion for the process instead of chasing goals. Our culture is going to be based on competition, creating a team of absolute competitors.
OUR CULTURE WILL ALSO BE BASED ON RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER; WITHIN PERFORMANCE WE’RE GOING TO BEAT IT OUT OF EACH OTHER AND THEN WITH HUMILITY AND RESPECT PICK EACH OTHER BACK UP. UNDERSTANDING THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN SPORT, IT IS MY HOPE THAT MY ATHLETES ENTER THE REAL WORLD AS FUNCTIONING RESPECTABLE MEMBERS OF SOCIETY.
